Beef stroganoff is a popular entrée and a Russian classic. It is tender beef strips cooked to perfection by first searing and partially cooking the beef strips and then simmering on low-to-medium heat for 30 minutes in an exclusive sauce mix consisting of beef broth, red wine and onions, and seasoned with cooking wine, A-1 steak (or Worcestershire) sauce, thyme, garlic ginger paste, and tomato paste. Salt, black pepper, flour and sour cream are added later. Sauteéd mushrooms complement the beef strips.
The recipe presented here is easy to work with and will produce excellent results.
Beef stroganoff
Cooking time is 35 minutes and about 10-15 minutes will be required for preparation of meat, vegetables, spices, pastes and liquids. Standard recipe calls for sour cream to be added towards the conclusion of cooking. However, it may be left out and simply topped on the serving.
Served over buttered and lightly salted noodles it makes a delicious main course. Side items such as an appetizer, cucumber salad, potatoes and desert will make it a full course wonderful meal.
One half pound of tender beef is used for 2-3 servings. Recipe may be scaled to 1 or 2 pounds of beef for more servings.
