Wiener schnitzel from pork (or simply Pork Schnitzel) is a German favorite entrée. A schnitzel is meat thinned by pounding with a meat tenderizer, then coated with flour, beaten eggs, and bread crumbs, and then fried in oil (vegetable oil or olive oil). Tenderizing meat with a mallet softens the fibers making the meat easier to chew, and thinning the meat will well cook the meat at the same time the crust browns during frying.
Schnitzels are most commonly made using veal or pork meat. Wiener schnitzel made from veal is an Austrian favorite entrée. It is one of the best known entrées of Viennese cuisine. On the other hand, chicken or turkey may also be used.
Schnitzels are usually served with a slice of lemon (or lime), a side dish of potatoes, and a glass of wine. Some type of salad, such as cucumber salad or tossed green salad and a desert will make it a full course meal.
